Jay Kishore Pradhan who had retired in 2016 as a deputy manager of SBI has cracked one of the toughest exams – The national Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in September and has enrolled as a first-year student of MBBS at VIMSAR.

Jay Kishore’s father died recently and during this course of time, he had gone through the medical processes regularly. Due to this experience, he was motivated to appear for NEET. He has previously appeared for the MBBS exam just after his intermediate class in the 1970s but couldn’t succeed. Since then he had a feeling of incompleteness. In 2019, the Supreme Court had lifted the upper age limit for studying till further judgment. This rule reminded him to fulfill his desire.

He used to help his daughters to prepare for medical examinations and even his daughters motivated him to appear for NEET. Since one of his daughter had an unfortunate demise last month he could not celebrate his success though.
The Director of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR), Dr. Lalit Kumar has praised Jay Kishores efforts he has commented that many young students failed to crack the NEET exams despite sincere efforts.

Age is just a number for Mr. Pradhan. When he was asked to comment on his age and the success achieved, he told –
“I have no commercial intentions going ahead. I want to serve the people till I am alive.’
