Indian women hockey team reached semi-finals in Tokyo Olympics 2020

First time in history of Olympics the Indian women’s hockey team marks its presence in the semi-finals, Tokyo Olympics 2020, and beat the Australian team, Hockeyroons by (1-0) in the quarter-finals. Rani Rampal leads the women’s Hockey team and played well in the tournament.

The Indians were bold, courageous, and aggressive during the match and did well. Australia tried hard to knock out the Indian team but we have adopted good defensive techniques. Indian willpower has not breached by Australians in the final 8 minutes of the match and Indians were not afraid. Australia secured 3 simultaneous penalty corners but Savita Deep Grace defends all goals very smartly.

Australia tried to knock out but Gurjit Kaur (drag-flicker) has scored from a penalty corner at the last moment and surprise the Australians. With the overwhelmed victory India made its position in Tokyo Olympics. The women players have marked their names in world record and are now ready for more challenges in finals. Out of five pool matches, the team has been able to secure 33penalty corners in-game.

We have seen the same spirit of the men’s hockey team reached in the medal round after 41 years by defeating Britain by 3-1. Sports minister Anurag Thakur congratulated the women team for their brilliant performance. The finals will be on August 4 with Argentina. Let’s see what will happen and we hope for the best!
