Shubham Kumar, native of a small village (Kumari pur), district ‘Kaithar ‘ of Bihar , bags the first position in Upse examination at a tender age of 24. He had already taken 2 attempts at civil services examination before this and last year managed to secure 290th rank. A son of proud parents Devanand Singh and Punam devi, Shubham had started his primary education in his village Kumhari and later finished his secondary education from Vidya Vihar Residential School, Parora in Purnia, in the year 2012.
Bihar boy Shubham Kumar made his village, District as well as state proud by cracking the India’s toughest examination i.e. Union Public Service Commission exam, 2020. A B.Tech in civil engineering from IIT Bombay, settled for his goals in his 3rd attempt. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar congratulated Shubham for his success and stated that, “He has not made not only his home district proud but also the whole bihar.” Before this Amir Subhani, a resident of Siwan who currently serves as additional chief secretart of Bihar government, had topped the examination in 1987.

A boy coming from a small village of Bihar that was one of the worst flood affected blocks of Bihar, sets an example for us and motivates us to keep working hard even in the worst conditions. Deputy chief minister Tarishore Prasad who comes from the same district i.e Kaithar, congratulated his parents and expressed his desire to participate in the function which will be held to honour shubham is his village Kumhari. Shubham’s father stated that, “My son has made not just us proud but has brought laurels for the whole of Bihar.” Achiver Shubham Kumar has thanked all his well wishers via tweet.
